How often is an acceptable frequency to chart data such as ventilator settings, breath sounds, sputum production, patient tolerance, mental status, vital signs, etc? < Q1, Q 2, Q 3, Q 4 >Does checking and documenting this data too often, take away from clinically being able to take care of your patient's needs. We currently are checking vents Q3 hours but are being forced to change to Q 2 hours.

Check the thread below "vent check frequency". In my opinion, Q2 vent check departments are just that "vent checkers". With todays RT shortage Q2 is a waste of time.

Jogger, We do our vent checks Q4, but are always around to monitor and treat the patient. I agree that Q2 checks are not feasable do to staffing constraints that we now face, however a good therapist should know how to monitor and treat the patient for any changes of condition.
