Who makes the ventilator seeting changes at your hospital? Nurses? RT's? or both?

We have implemented protocols here where RTs call the shots. However, they are expected to keep bo the RN and physician in the know.

We do the same thing Bill C. stated. RT makes all the changes but is expected to keep nursing and physicians in the loop.

I would NOT work at a hospital where a nurse could make adjustments to my vent. When there is shared liability then maybe I will feel differently. If anything happens with a vent, that falls on me and my liscense. But of course, we keep Nurses and doctors aware of any changes if we have protocol. If there is no protocol, then the doctor is the one who ordered it and they know what they ordered.
