I'd like to pick the brains of the Rt's who work with paeds and neos. Do you use the Servo 300? What circuits are you using? What humidification system? At what point(age/weight) would you choose to volume ventilate vs pressure ventilate? In the center that I work, we only ventilate these little ones until the transport team arrives (and believe me it is never soon enough for me!. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi. At our center, hen we ventilate little ones, we used to use the 300 exclusively, except for now, we have bought Avea's and use those instead. We use standard Fisher-Paykel humidifiers and neonatal (up to 10kg) dual heated circuits. Whether to use pressure or volume will usually depend on pathology. In our really little ones, we tend to use pressure. On older kids or post-ops we'll often use volume. Hope this helps!
