I know the regular bubble humidifiers are not supposed to go above 6lpm but what about using a High Flow bubble humidifier you would use for a high flow cannula to add humidity to a simple or venti mask? Does anyone do this or is it still needed the large bore connection for a venti and nothing for a simple mask?

I only use a simple mask for short term use, usually less than a hour or two. I find no reason to use a venti mask.

If I needed to use a mask long term then I would use a high flow/humidity/heated nasal cannula.
