I work in a long term care facility and we have had a problem with our home vents. The alarms are pressure alarms and with a disconnect, there have been times we have witnessed the vent not alarm if against a bedsheet, or other pressure source.

Has anyone out there had this problem and /or any suggestions.

Use the low minute alarms, oximeters, and apnea monitors. If the vent your are using doesnt have a low volume alarm then perhaps you should change vents, The LTV is approved for ICU, transport, LTC, and home care they all have a low volume alarm. I think most of the new vents(last 5 yrs) have low volume alarms, so it may be time to update.
