Why on the 7200 they have the mode of CMV and the 760 has a mode called AC, They are both the same thing but on their two vents they have two different labels??? What's up with that??

Barry,
Might be that the 7200 is 20 some years old, and that's what PB chose to call it back them. The 760 is younger and maybe they chose to conform.

Who knows why the various vent manufacturers choose to call the various modes?

If you use the Evita 4, change the language to old English.....PCV becomes BIPAP, CMV becomes IPPV, etc.

The problem with the "CMV" label is that on the old Bear vents that CMV mode actually locked the patient out--the patient couldn't even initiate any extra breaths. The old concept is still rife in many nursing and MD circles.

But I also believe, on the Drager Evita 4, if in CMV mode and you turn off flow sensor, then CMV is really IMV. (same as CMV on Drager Babylog).

On the LTV, change PCV breaths to flow termination and you have A/C or SIMV PCV in which the timed breaths (and assisted if A/C) are really PS.
