I thnk that if someone needs dialysis and is also using a vent, that should not be a problem for any facility to accomodate. These are both common, and neither is optional. I wonder if it is the for-profit dialysis centers that are preventing every SNF, etc., to providing it as a given whether or not the patient also uses a vent. | ||

Interesting observation. I'm not sure that is it. I would offer that high risk combined with insufficient reimbursement for facilities shouldering that risk makes accepting some of these individuals a hard decision when the bed can go to a resident that will bring less costs and exposure with equal or better margin for the facility. IMHO it is a travesty that the system fails so many of us that fall into similar circumstances. | |||
