has anyone experienced breathing problems after eating. Heres background. Im caregiver for my best friend of 26 years who has copd. She had bladder removal 1 yr 8 months ago. After surgery she could not get off the vent. Some progress at first but many complications since. Its been a nightmare. We are home now. Was on tube feed until 4 months ago. Now she has regular diet. Set to 16 breaths, simv, 2.5 liters oxygen. Problem is she can eat and approx. 1 hour later breathrate varies from set 16 to 20, 22, 23. Hr raises a little, bp raises a little with nervousnes and discomfort. Oxygen is always 98 to 99. Usually have to give zanax which helps. Has anyone else seen this? She hasnt always done this. I can give her a liquid vitamin in juice and it happens with just that. It doesnt make sense. Why now. Any ideas would be appreciated. Please respond especially if this has happened to you.
