I'm on secondment to a large ICU in Thailand where preparations are being made for an expected influx of Avian flu cases. The unit has a selection of ventilators such as PB 7200 and Servo 900 and also a few turbine ventilators such as the Espirt and Versamed i vent. Concerns are being raised over the air intake filtration capabilities of the turbine machines as they will entrain the room air for supply to the patient. Any one got any idea of the air intake filtration capabilities of the turbine machines (Espirt and I Vent)? The local dealers appear reluctant to discuss this subject with us so I was wondering if any one out there had a view on this.
