Ventilator Disconnect Alarm systems
Am looking for feedback on what type of vent disconnect alarm systems are being used to enhanced annunciation of low pressure of disconnect events to users who may be out of patient room, patient is in isolation and door closed, or patient room is located where distinquishing the alarm would be difficult.

Draeger sells a vent management system called Bernoulli. As far as the surveillence goes the system can be set up to alarm at a central station either in the unit or wherevever you would like to put a station. The system can also be set up to page a therapist for selected alarms such as a low pressure with the bed # and alarm condition on the message. Pick and choose which alarm you want paged for.

This is a great system for spread out ICU rooms, closed doors or high patient to therapist ratio.

This system is extremely valuable if sentinel alerts have been a problem.

It does a multitude of things too many for me to write about.

Our "poor man" disconnect alarm is to use an etco2 detector and set the RR alarm to sound at the desk.

Drager sells it, but it is a product of CPT, Inc.

Drager is only allowed to sell this to LTAC's. Maquet has the agreement to sell this to ICU's

old timer... thats what I heard too.
What about a Nurse Call alarm that hooks up from the vent through the patient monitor and will alarm at the nurses station?
If not... Just have an OJT stand at the door and yell.

I think the nurse-call option is a good one. The PB 840 will activate it on a medium or high urgency alarm. Anyone have info on how the nurse-call works on other vents?

We connect our ventilators into the hospital computer system. When there is a disconnect, there is a loud audible alarm in the ICU and each computer screen in the ICU displays a message which states ventilator disconnect in ...(room number).

We are looking at the Bernoulli Ventilator wireless management system. It is user friendly with all systems and allows remote monitoring as with telemetry of all your vents. It takes care of problems with volume of alarms on vents and with isolation vents and allows us to see and hear what vents are alarming and why back in our office.
