Our Level II NICU is in the midst of a large discussion on which humidification system works best with neonates.
We recently completed a merge between two NICU units from seperate hospitals (same corporation). One set of staff prefers Fisher Pykel although we hate the circuit setup we have for it, it's an octopus of pieces. The staff from the other unit prefers the Concha system which did have a better circuit to use, much less complicated and quicker to setup.
We even played with the idea of the Vapotherm system but feed back from some other facilities has not been very good on the durability of that product.
Anyone's thought's on this?

I'll take the Hudson Concha humidification system over the Fisher Paykel any day. Have used both at different hospitals. The new Fisher Paykels we had continually produced excess rain out and we were not able to regulate the humidification since there were no controls. It was auto regulated and at best we contiually had to empty the excess water from the circuit.The room temperature ran on the cooler side and this had a lot to do with excess ran out. The Concha heaters on the other hand are adjustable by setting a positive or negative temperature gradient to achieve your desired temperature and humidification at the patient wye.There are icons, which are intuitive to set. If you decide to go with the Concha heaters from Hudson you can also purchase their version of the the Vapotherm. It will save you considerable setup time and is significantly less expensive.
