Combi cath
Who has information on the new realm of suctioning called the Combi Cath. ????
My hospital is looking into the apparatus but is it worth the time and money

Sorry it took so long for a response. I havent been at this site for a long time. So sorry it has slowed the way it has. Hopefully things will pick up soon.

The Combicath is a catheter within a catheter specifically used for performing bronchoalveolar lavage for specimen culture. Normally this is performed via bronchoscopy. We perform "Mini BAL" procedures on occasion with the combicath. I would NOT use this for any routine suctioning. It is specifically for achieving an Alveolar washing.
