My mother has a trach and is on a vent 15-20 hrs per day. There is a very nasty smell that comes out of her trach. We were once told that it was psuedomonis. But she shows no signs of infection even with a sputum culture. We've also been told that by a home nurse that psuedomonas smells sweet. What is psuedomonas and what is this nasty smell?
