I was just wondering how everyones hospital charts tx and medication administration. We now use big MAK carts where we have to scan our badge then pt. badge and the meds are never in the system correct. Maybe someone has an easier way and I can bring up at the next meeting. They say it is to meet Join commission requirements.
Ryan, It is true that JCAHO has made certian changes in medication delivery and storage of meds. Some places are using Pyxis or Accudose, or similar machines. The big thing to realize is that a good medication delivery system should allow the right med at the right dosage for the right patient, be able to track charges, and help decrease medication errors, capture missing meds. You might have to check with your pharmacy or the vendor if you are experiencing computer glitches to get them corrected.
