Sharing ventilators between ICU's
I am looking for information on sharing Adult/Neo /Pedi vents between the three intensive care units and populations. Does anyone know of any studies on the subject. Any problems with cross contamination from the Equipment?

Our hospital shares ventilators between 6 ICU's and one Respiratory Weaning Unit. All Adults.
All of our vents are returned to the department for cleaning. They are not wiped down in the ICU and then placed into another room. Cleaning procedures outline stripping all dirty equipment, wiping down the vent, hoses, electrical cord, etc.
We have never had suspicion of the vents contaminating other patients. We utilize disposable circuits, closed-suction catheters, etc. and our VAP rates are consistently below National Averages.
