Do you use the NIP maneuver and VC of the PB7200 as a weaning predictor?? Can anybody help me about this??

The NIF manuever on the 7200 will be lower than the traditional method of attaching a manometer to the airway. The pressure transducer is located back in the ventilator and requires the patient to empty the contents of the tubing prior to the pressure being sensed by the ventilator. If a patient fails the manuever on the 7200, you may not completely understand their ability to move pressure. If they pass your requirements on the 7200, you can know they are passing the requirement. This manuever is a convienence for you to monitor the patient. It is best to still attach a manometer to look for duration as well as pressure. If this NIF is an important parameter for weaning and assessment for you, use the 7200 manuever as an indicator not an absoulute. The VC manuever is a little more reliable but is dependent on patient effort. I hope this helps.
