The E500 is a Servo 300 with better control layout, new exhalation tranducer, and leak compensation. I am not sure that it has an active exhalation valve. Without an active exhalation valve, I would be reluctant to buy these ventilators. If you are looking low cost, I would consider a low end Drager, Servo, or the E Vent. I haven't had clinical experience with the Newport but helped with a ventilator trial. I would suggest the Newport provide you with references with long term use.
